Building Sound Herbal Formulas with JoAnna Sanchez, RH

This 4-part course lays groundwork for development of using herbs in combinations.

Strategy, guidelines, and theory are presented as a guide for the process of writing botanical protocols

Prior Materia Medica study will be relevant to combine with this instruction, which provides the forethought and suitable considerations for synergy, efficacy, and compliance factors when building formulars. A wholistic rendering for applying herbal remedy for health imbalance that includes historical herbalism technique is portrayed.

  • Pairs. Lesson Two.  The bridge: a Physiomedical tool.
  • Triangulation. Lesson Three. Compounding. Variations on a theme: some guidelines.
  • Triune. Lesson Four.  A multi-faceted strategy. Conclusions: Notes on posology and delivery systems.

 

Bio: JoAnna Sanchez is a community herbalist with more than 40 years of experiential learning. She holds a bachelor degree in plant studies and has graduate training in botany. She is the owner, author, director and  instructor for Botanica herb school’s 750 clock hour western herbalism training program which is partnered with and nationally accredited by the Southwest institute of healing arts in Tempe Arizona which has graduated hundreds of new herbalists into the workplace over the years. This program, as well as her educational work as adjunct professor in the department of botanical medicine at the southwest college of naturopathic medicine is in its 25th year. JoAnna educates herbalists, those on her staff and others, in the art of herbal education, teaching teachers, this having become an active engagement beyond teaching students our herbalism craft in general. 

JoAnna has written 5 textbook manuals that accompany herbalism study and has initiated and been caretaker of the largest medicine plant garden in Arizona for more than two decades, which is currently seeking sanctuary status with the united plant savers.  

At botanica, JoAnna does custom compounding for clients, doctor’s patients and manufacturers as well as serves as mentor for new practitioners and for novice herbalism educators. She runs an educational herbal clinic from august to November each year and specializes in private clinical therapies. Private mentorship regarding bioregional harvest and outdoor education of medical herbalism is another ongoing pursuit. 

JoAnna has spoken at multiple conferences throughout the country in the last many years. 

JoAnna contributes to the American botanical council, the united plants savers partners in education program, and is a professionally recognized member of the American Herbalists Guild.
